DivGel® provides superior impact reduction by rapidly transferring kinetic energy outward and dissipating the energy laterally like ripples across a pond.
Technical Overview
DivGel® is a visco-elastic thermoset soy-based polymer that conforms to any surface or space to which it is applied. It acts on a molecular level to reduce vibrations by transferring energy waves over a horizontal plane much like ripples across a pond. As a result, it reduces impact and sound waves as well as Beta, Delta and Gamma vibrations.
The product is a patented mixture of epoxidized vegetable oil, a thermoplastic polymer and a pre polymer - an environmentally safe compound which requires no application of temperature change or pressure to create. The gel has been tested in Detroit, Michigan, by Auto Liv Company and the Lear Corporation using Head Impact Criteria (HIC), and was rated 2 1/2 times better than 38 other substances under review. Since the Auto Liv/Lear test, many companies have conducted their own tests, resulting in further validation of the impact-absorbing qualities of DivGel® technology.
Product Benefits
Rapidly Redirects and Dissipates Kinetic Energy
Most foam products on the market provide padding in the case of an impact, but they only serve to absorb kinetic energy. By contrast, DivGel® redirects kinetic energy by acting as a liquid barrier to rapidly dissipate energy outward like ripples through a pond.
By redirecting kinetic energy outward, DivGel® is able to substantially reduce impact force for low to medium velocity impacts. This impact reduction is clearly demonstrated in head to head tests with competing alternatives.
Tailored To Match Product Specifications
DivGel® requires neither heat nor pressure during the manufacturing process, and it can be injected or molded as needed to meet product specifications. Furthermore, because DivGel® can absorb more energy in a thinner configuration than foam-based alternatives, it reduces bulk and allows products to maintain a more sleek and refined form factor while providing equal or better impact protection.
Durable and Rebounding
Unlike most foam based alternatives, DivGel® endlessly rebounds and doesn't break down over time. Even when punctured, the gel will re-form around itself and be capable of the same impact reduction and shock absorption as before.
